Precious Gift

“…darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.“. Genesis 1:2

The very first thing before the world began was the Spirit. He was always here. Nothing exists without him.

“I wish all of the Lord’s people were prophets and the Lord would put his Spirit on them.” Numbers 11:29

Moses talked face to face with God and he had a very special and unique relationship. But God’s chosen people were nothing special. He had called Abraham and Abraham obeyed everything and his faith was righteous before God. But as generations separated them from God they were a stiff-necked people.

The Spirit will come powerfully on you, and you will prophesy with them; and you will be changed into a different person.” 1 Samuel 12:6

The Spirit changes us into people God can use mightily. With it comes wisdom and anointing. I know the Spirit speaks through me as I write because I can read something years later that I wrote and it still makes me weep. It has also made me extremely bold and there is so much joy in my life and I have never felt more alive.

“And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.” Ezekiel 36:27

When you are filled with the Holy Spirit he will guide you and prompt you in which way to go and you never want to do anything that might hurt him.

“I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy.” Joel 2:28

He wants all people to have this gift.

“I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me comes one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.” Matthew 3:11

John the Baptist told of this great gift to come, with amazing power. I have noticed in my prayers such boldness in asking just what I need because he promised and he is faithful.

“…how much more will the Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him.” Luke 11:12

He wants all people to have this gift.

“…for God gives the Spirit without limit.” John 3:34

All the power you need.

“Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for these are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is Spirit, and his worshipers must worship him in the Spirit and in truth.” John 4:23-24

We must worship the way God asks to receive the kind of answers and responses we desire.

“But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.” John 14:26

“But in the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people.” Acts 2:17

We are definitely in the last days. So this is not promised to disciples just in Jesus day. We need this power more now than ever.

“Peter replied, repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” Acts 2:38

“…they placed their hands on them and they received the Holy Spirit.” Acts 8:17

“And if the Spirit of him that raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of the Spirit who lives in you.” Romans 8:11

“In the same way the Spirit helps in our weakness. We don’t know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.” Romans 8:26

It is so good to know that when you just can’t put into words what would be God’s will. The Spirit speaks for you just what you need to say.

“The person without the Holy Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Holy Spirit of God but considers them as foolishness, and can not understand them because they are discerned only through the Holy Spirit.” 1. Corinthians 2: 14

Don’t doubt it till you try it. The Lord will be proven right every time.

Deposit of the Spirit

“Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put his spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.” 2 Corinthians 1:21-22 NIV

To all who have been called, and trust in the name of Jesus Christ to be saved, you are special. We know that we were made with great love in the image of our creator to fellowship with him. We our precious children of our King. But what else? So much has been said about who we are in Christ. When we come to him his arms are open wide and there is great rejoicing in heaven. It is a big deal. We are no longer a slave to Satan, sin, longing, and striving. God has wiped the slate clean and we are now a new creature. The old person we used to be is gone. At that point God says he anoints us, he wants us to go out and spread his message to the lost in the world. He has also set a seal upon you that tells the enemy that you are his and nothing bad can happen to you without his okay. He works everything, both good and bad for your best. He is perfecting you every day for the rest of your lives. You are a jewel to him, priceless and valuable. He is working at drawing you closer. He wants to know you and for you to know him more and more every day. A close relationship of love, trust and respect. He has made a deposit into your life. Just as Jesus made a promise before he left this earth he has given his Holy Spirit to be with us always. That Spirit comes with great power and the guarantee of the future we will have with our father in his kingdom. To be heirs with Christ to all he has. Upon death we are no longer in this earthly body but given a brand new heavenly body that is perfect and we will live with him forever. While we are on this earth he promises to be with us always helping us and edifying us. Whenever we want anything he wants us to run to him. He does not want us to be anxious or worried. If it is important to us it is important. When we need wisdom and guidance he wants us to ask. He does not expect us to do this on our own. Actually he knows that we can’t do this on our own. He will give us words to speak when we need them. He has made everything just for us. The world is so full of wonderful things to discover and they are ours. Everything we will ever need. Every good gift comes from him. He really is a very good God. There are many gods in the world that people serve and worship but they don’t do anything but tell you how to live your life and none can offer eternal life. Jesus is the only way to eternal life.

Do you want an abundant life with power?

Shine The Light

“In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:16 NIV

What is light? The absence of darkness. God is the absence of darkness. There is no darkness in Him. In fact when the garden was new it was full of light because God walked in the garden with Adam. His presence and his glory filled that place. But since sin and death came into Adam and Eve they were banished from the garden and his light. We are all sinners and are full of darkness and the world we live in is a very dark place. Those of us who know the one who is the light have that spark of light in us. But we need to be connected to the source often to shine. Praying, reading the Bible, praising, devotionals, Christian movies, and Christian books are all good ways to be connected. Even fellowshipping with other Christians is a good source of power because their spirit connects with our spirit and edifies each of us. The more you are connected the brighter you shine. Have you ever met someone whose Spirit just draws you and something about them just glows? I have. Think about when Jesus walked on this earth. He drew people to him. They wanted to be around him. They wanted what he had to rub off on them. Jesus was with some of his disciples and “there he was transfigured before them, his face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as the light.” He was full of his heavenly glory. This is what we should strive for. We will never get there till we are in heaven but we need to shine in the darkness. That is the way others will get to know our God. We need to be like him. Full of love, joy, peace, long suffering, gentleness, goodness, meekness, temperance and Faith. These are some of Gods qualities that we need more of. He is perfect light and we need to get as close to that and that takes purpose. It won’t just happen. You really need to be deliberate. Another reason to want that light shining in your life is that it brings so much peace, strength, and joy. I know people who at one time had the joy of the Lord in their lives and they were on fire for the Lord. They had purpose and they were making a difference. They were drawing people to the love of the Lord, but the cares of this life and the daily grind wore on them. They stopped fellowshipping with other Christians who supported and lifted them up. That is important to your strength and joy. We lift each other without even knowing it. That love of God is flowing from our spirits and we can relate to each other and our challenges. These friends got very discouraged and lost that feeling of love and acceptance that being around God brings. Everyone needs that kind of love to help and encourage them. When they are around someone who is shining brightly for God it will rub off on them even if they are not seeking it.

Can you be that shining light in someone’s life?

Abiding In Power

“Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you’ve heard me speak about. For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the ‘Holy Spirit.'” Acts 1:4 NIV

God wants to be with his people. He went to great lengths to see this happen. Giving his one and only son to die an agonizing death on a cross, just so we could be justified before God. Now he can be around us 24/7. He is available to us every minute of every day. God wishes to have a relationship with us. The only kind of relationship that you can get spending much time with him. We need to spend time with him daily. Just talk to him like a best friend or your spouse. Thank him for all the wonderful things he does for you in your life. A bright new day! He woke you up, some didn’t. That safe comfortable bed, the food on your table, a loving family, good friends and everlasting life. There is so much to be thankful for. Praise him for all your blessings. My grandchildren, all nine of them are so important to me. And I’m always praying for their health and safety. They are such a joy in my life and I love to see them succeed. He has given me favor with so many people and good friends. In every walk of life, and all throughout my day I have chances to show his great love. He is available to guide me and direct me through his Holy Spirit. He will nudge me at times to do something or say something. I jump to it quickly because my spirit won’t rest until I do. It always feels so good doing his will. We can also spend time with him though his words. The Bible is a real good way to get to know him better. Get to know his character. John is a good place to start. Seeing how Jesus lived his life is a great example for us. Do read all the word over a period of time. It all has value and will give an overall character of the God we serve. There is a time and place to ask God for things. One of the greatest is for wisdom. He will always give that one. He can be a valuable friend and confidant. Share your dreams and desires with him. He probably put them in your heart if they really are best for you. He gives us dreams to help us get where he wants us to go. The Holy Spirit in us gives us so much.

Won’t you let him become your best friend?
