Procrastination

“Don’t you have a saying, ‘It’s still four months until harvest’? I tell, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for the harvest.” John 4:35

This was said about telling the good news of salvation to someone and we certainly don’t want to procrastinate when it comes to someone’s eternal destiny but we can put so many things off until tomorrow and it never seems to be the right time. Praying, reading the Bible or so many things. I know I could sit playing on my tablet for hours and keep putting things off. There came a day when I said from now on I am going to do the next right thing no matter what it is and just get it over with. One thing was I never drank much water most of my life and one of my kidneys dried up and had to be removed. The doctor said you only have one left and you need it to live, so drink a lot more water or you will need dialysis. Well I had a couple roommates on dialysis and it was bad but when they finally got close to dying it was horrible to watch. I have to make myself drink water but I drink a lot now. Because of my stroke there are things I can’t control but if something will keep me healthy like a good diet or rest, I do it. I have a routine to help me do important things like reading my Bible or praying I do it at the same time every day. I also journal everything I read for better comprehension. I do things to stimulate my brain it’s the one thing I have that works real well and that’s very important to me. When it comes to prayer I used to tell people I’d pray for them and then forget. I don’t forget any more and I always say thank you for blessings and answered prayers. If I’m worried about something I pray but if there is something I can do to help God will nudge me and I jump to it right away. Spending time with family and friends, even if it’s just talking online is important because they won’t always be there. I know because I almost died at 45 but God wasn’t done with me. So many things like reading books writing my devotionals that I share with many people and on my blog. Maybe there are things you want to try like working at a food pantry or serving in a ministry. People are definitely needed for so many things. There are many things we can do to make a difference in others lives and encourage people. Do everything you can to make today a better day than yesterday. So one day you can hear, “ well done good and faithful servant.”.

Good Gifts

“ Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” James 1:17

I read the other day that we should count our blessings but who would be crazy enough to ever think they could possibly count all the good things God can do. God cannot change he is good always that’s just who he is. Even though evil and bad things still happen he will use them for his purposes which are for our good. So even a bad thing can be good. Example: I had a bad stroke which took so much away and now I’m living in a nursing home. Bad, but if I hadn’t had a stroke I wouldn’t have turned my life around and I was heading down a destructive dangerous path. Now I am so very happy and living all out for the Lord and helping others. The first thing I think of is the brand new day we receive every morning at just the precise time. No matter if you even care about God or not he wakes you up with air in your lungs and a new sunrise. Even if it’s raining it’s to nourish all living things. The winds come and go, tides go in and tides go out, the world keeps revolving around the sun and moon giving us different seasons to enjoy. There is so many different climates and scenery around the world to experience. Some cold and some warm you can have whatever you want. God supplies food for all life and more than enough and variety with no end. Look at the sparrow who never worries about where its next meal is coming from. He has given us the ability to think and reason. To invent some amazing things even going to the moon. There are zillions of plants and animals to enjoy. Look into the night sky and realize that he knows every star by name throughout the galaxies. He made families and friends to love and appreciate. Books to help take you to exciting places and times. The roof over your head and clothing to wear to protect you from the elements. Cars, planes, trains to get all the way around the world in just hours. My son-in-law flies around the world all the time to Brazil, Paris, Venice, and Greenland. He never knows where he might end up but he loves seeing so much.l could go on and on but there isn’t room for everything. Just remember that you will have problems but never as many as your blessings so be thankful for everyone. God Is Good!

No Better Help

“For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says, do not fear; I will help you.” Isaiah 41:13

The one who can always help us wants to help us with everything. He wants to be our very best friend. The one we rely on every time. He wants us to trust him to always have our best interests in mind. He is in control of everything that goes on and he always knows what is best for our lives. He has so many things that he will do for us. Wisdom, power, strength, peace. What is your need right now? He desires for you to lean on him. The way we grow closer is by trusting in him and watching him turn things around in our lives. There is always going to be a mountain in front of us that needs moved and many times we try everything we can before we give God a try. We waste a lot of time trying to be independent. I understand how important independence is because I can’t do much on my own anymore. I need help with so much but I still want to be able to help others. Even if it’s something little. It makes me feel valuable. People like to feel needed and loved. Doing things for others is the way God has asked us to live. Giving of ourselves whether time, financially, or doing something special for someone else is how we show that we care. God showed us how much he cared by sending his Son to die in our place. He gave his very best shouldn’t we.

Sickness

“When he heard this, Jesus said, ‘This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God’s glory so that God’s Son may be glorified through it.’” John 11:4

We all have trials and sickness and we have no control over it. We have been given authority to command the enemy to get his hands off of us. But what if nothing seems to work? Do you still trust God? He can have many reasons why things progress as they do. He could be strengthening us. Like he did Job when he challenged him. It made him a better man. Or I know firsthand that nearly dying will cause you to rethink your lifestyle. I have talked to other people besides myself and they tend to draw closer to God once you realize that you were not living right and causing yourself destruction with your life choices that can be selfish and prideful. The awesome thing is that God is always in control and he knows what’s best. Doctors can be confused why a patient doesn’t get better when they are doing everything right. Then things can turn around all at once and make a miraculous recovery. They may die when we don’t understand why they weren’t healed. Maybe their work on earth was finished and God is ready to reward them for a life well lived. We do have to die one day so that we can enjoy an eternity with him in heaven. I don’t think anyone gets to paradise and doesn’t want to be there no matter how much their family and friends want them here. Some people have died and had a near death experience that they can share to encourage others. Trials are a part of life so embrace them and see what God is trying to do in your life.
