Nuggets of Truth

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:8

When you become a Christian you get a portion of the spirit. But when the spirit comes upon you and you are filled you suddenly have power and boldness that you never knew before. You will want to spread what you have found to the ends of the earth.

“Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under Heaven given to mankind by which you must be saved.” Acts 4:12

There is one way to heaven, only one, and that is Jesus Christ. You either accept him or you have rejected him.

“As for us, we can’t help speaking of what we have seen and heard.” Acts 4:20

I have seen and heard of so many amazing miracles, stories of God moving in lives and throughout the world. I get so choked up and overwhelmed at times. Just my little church in Phoenix is making an impact in the world. I can’t keep it to myself. I just have to pass it on.

“When they heard this, they had no further objections and they praised God saying so then, even to Gentiles God has granted repentance that leads to life.” Acts 11:18

I am so grateful that there are stubborn Jews out there, because God decided to widen his scope to even more people, of which I am one. If he had stuck with just the Jews his chosen people, I would not have the assurance of heaven one day.

“…I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own heart, he will do everything I want him to do.” Acts 13:22

I remember once when God told me he loved me like he loved David, and I was floored. But I know he shows no partially. It made me strive more to be a woman after Gods heart.

“And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything. Rather, he himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else.” Acts 17:25

God does not need us or our money. He is all sufficient and abounds in everything. He does want us, he wants us to want him. He has given us everything and offers to give us rest, what more could we want?

“For in him we live and move and have our being. As some of your own poets have said, we are his offspring.” Acts 17:28

Without God you can not really live. Because we are his children he can, and will, give us everything we will ever need to live a very abundant life because he loves us.

“However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has for me – the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.” Acts 20:24

God has a different plan for each of us. My plan is different than yours or my pastors. But my plan is to do his will for me. He has equipped me to do it. I should not be concerned with my own agenda but only his. That will bring me the most satisfaction.

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first Jew and then Gentile.” Romans 1:16

I once thought, who wants to hear about God? They’ll think I’m nuts or goody-goody. Well then I thought about it. If I found a treasure map to a chest full of gold, would anyone care? Of course they would. Since I have gotten to know the Lord he has brought so much joy, peace and love. If others wouldn’t want that then they are just nuts and I truly feel sorry for them.

“For it is not those who hear the law who are righteous in Gods sight, but it is those who obey the law who are righteous.” Romans 2:13

I can read the Bible every day, even for hours , but if I don’t put it into practice and learn to do what it says it does little for me.

“…and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.” Romans 3:24

Grace is a wonderful thing. God gives it to anyone who has faith, but it is because Jesus redeemed us by giving himself for us. God has always been good but he is just and it had to be given in a special way.

Nuggets of Truth

“But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a small amount of money.” Mark 12:42

This woman did not have much money but she gave with her whole heart. What she gave was more like 90% not 10%. There are people who make thousands of dollars but still gripe about giving to God. So they give a generous $20 tip. It isn’t that God needs the money but he does want your heart.

“The curtain of the temple was torn into from too to bottom.” Mark 15:38

At one time only priests could come before God. I’m so glad that I live in a day where I can come before God and actually have an intimate and very fulfilling relationship with him and I know he does hear me and he cares about me.

“Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.” Mark 16:15

This is a commandment to every person trying to do God’s will. But how many of us actually do this? This is not just for preachers and their staff. You do not need a diploma to lead people closer to the kingdom of heaven. Just showing the love of Jesus to everyone is a start. Let people know just how much Jesus does love and care about them.

“But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places to pray.” Luke 5:16

Something I’ve learned since I began praying regularly about ten years ago is that I’m no longer lonely. I may be alone by myself most of the time but I am never alone. I feel the presence of my “dream team,” which is what I call the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Never will they ever leave me or forsake me.

“It’s not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.“. Luke 15:31-32

People who are saved but aren’t really living a full life have only themselves to blame. They have God’s words telling them how to live an abundant life and he will give them every bit of help they need but they need to desire it. God will not push them. He’s working on the broken and hurting that are dying.

“Therefore I tell you, her many sins are forgiven- as her great love has shown. But whoever has been forgiven little, love’s little.” Luke 7:47

Good people seem to think they do ok. They need to realize that we all are just filthy rags. We all complain, say bad things, think bad thoughts and are sinners. We may not do big things but even little wrongs count. God has forgiven us for it all. If we believe in Jesus. We would all be dying if Jesus had not cared enough to come and make a way.

“Blessed rather are those who hear the word and obey it.” Luke 11:28

If you want to be blessed, than trust and obey it, ALL.

“Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourself that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will not fail, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys.” Luke 12:33

Do you want your treasures to be safe. The only place they will truly be safe is in heaven. Doing the things that God has asked you to do brings rewards. Lending to the poor is like lending to God and he always pays back, with interest.

Suppose one of you has 100 sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the country and go after the lost sheep till they find it.” Luke 15:3

Aren’t you glad that God loves all of his sheep and he can’t stand to lose any. He will never give up on us, no matter what it takes. He is so patient and loving. I strayed away once when I was trying to find myself. Boy was that a mistake.

“Things that cause people to stumble are bound to come, but woe to anyone through who they come.” Luke 17:1

I do not wish to cause anyone to stumble. That is why it is so important to be intentional. What I do and what I say is being watched by others. All of it.

Nuggets of Truth

“Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy.” Micah 7:17

God will forgive anything and he doesn’t hold a grudge like we do. He delights to do that. Isn’t that good to know.

“How long, Lord, must I call for help, but you do not listen? Or cry out to you, violence! But you do not save? Why do you make me look at injustice? Why do you tolerate wrongdoing? Destruction and violence are before me, there is strife, and conflict abounds.” Habakkuk 1:1-2

It is so easy to say why? We don’t like pain or trials but God has told us to expect them. People say they cannot trust a God who would allow evil. But God always has a reason even if we may never know it. The worst injustice I know of was sending an innocent, loving person, who did so much good, to die on a cross. Even Jesus didn’t want to do it if it wasn’t necessary, but he only cared for what God wanted. Where would we be without that unjust act? It was harder on God than anything and he feels our pain too.

“The Lord is in his holy temple; let all the earth be silent before him.” Habakkuk 2:20

The Lord is in control of everything. Whatever will be, will be. Worrying and complaining will not change anything. The Lord will use everything, whether good or bad, for his purposes. There is nothing the enemy can throw at him that will change that. This should bring comfort if you are on his team.

“…yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my savior. The sovereign Lord is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to tread on the heights.” Habakkuk 3:18

My team is, the father, the son, and the Holy Spirit. I have an awesome team, what should I fear. My team wins. They give me the strength to rise above anything.

“Not by might or by power, but by my spirit, says the Lord Almighty.” Zechariah 4:6

Nothing can we do on our own or should we try. We don’t have to face anything alone either. People who trust themselves to do everything don’t normally succeed at least not very long and they will never know abundant life. When we allow God to be our strength, realizing that it is through him that we are strong we will be happy.

“Ask the Lord for rain in the springtime; it is the Lord who sends the thunderstorms. He gives showers of rain to all people, and plants of the field to everyone.” Zechariah 10:1

God takes care of everyone. The sun rises every day and we all get a brand new start. A beautiful sunset. A clean fresh snow storm. A beautiful hillside of flowers. But not everyone appreciates his goodness and blessings. I don’t take things for granted anymore because you never know when they might be taken away.

“I will refine them like silver and test them like gold. They will call on my name and I will answer them; I will say, they are my people , and they will say, the Lord is our God.” Zechariah 13

We will have trials, but if we let them, they can make us better, stronger and more like Jesus. To be purified metals need to be heated. The hotter the better to get rid of impurities.

“Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house.” Malachi 3:10

This is a simple principle but people like to complicate it. A tithe is 10% or $1.00 for every $100.00 you make. The more you make the easier it should be to pay. But actually the less you make, the more reason you have to give. Because God blesses you for everything you give. If we all tithed there would be no needs, because there would be a vast supply to share. I have found that giving of my little tithe has given me riches beyond my understanding and I always have more to give.

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.” Matthew 7:7-8

I have known many people who did not believe there was a God. People who were blind to all the beautiful creation around them. They tell God to prove it. If you are God?, do something amazing that will show me that you are who you say you are. Well I wouldn’t think he would do something like that. But maybe he sees more than I do. Maybe they do want him to prove them wrong. This life is totally meaningless if there is no God. We all seek in our own ways. He does say seek and you will find. And he means it. I’ve seen it.

“Many will say to me on that day, “Lord, Lord” did we not prophecy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles? Then I will tell them plainly, I never knew you, away from me, you evildoers.” Matthew 7:22-23

I cannot imagine doing these things and not being saved but I also know people who are the image of holy but, do not act out of love and compassion but for what’s in it for them. I make sure I always act out of love. First for God and then for others.

“But when they arrest you, do not worry about what to say or how to say it. At that time you will be given what to say.” Matthew 10:19

I trust God to give me words of wisdom in all circumstances. I am continually asking him to show me his ways and truths. I tend to be quiet because I realize it’s not about me or what I think and I best keep quiet unless I feel him leading me to speak.

“All things have been committed to me by my father. No one knows the Son but the Father; and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.” Matthew 11:27

God totally left everything up to his son. He could have chosen to do his will but God also knew that he would do his Father’s will. Thank you Jesus that you have also chosen to reveal this to me.

“What goes into someone’s mouth does not defile them, but what comes out of their mouth, that is what defiles them.” Matthew 15:11

That which comes out of your mouth comes from your heart. Either your heart is right with God and you seek to honor God or your heart is not right.

“For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them. “. Matthew 18:20

Boy I missed being at church while Covid was going on. I was forced to stay in my room and watch church online. I missed all of my friends and the fellowship I had been used to. The biggest thing was being in the presence of corporate worship. I did worship alone in my room but there is nothing like being in the presence of everyone in one room.

“Love the Lord your God with all of your heart and with all of your soul and with all your mind.” Matthew 22:37

The greatest commandment is to really love the Lord. To put him very first above everything else. I believe if you have done that, then all the other commandments will follow because of that. My greatest desire is to do God’s will for me.

Nuggets of Truth

“All the days of the oppressed are wretched, but the cheerful heart has a continual feast.” Proverbs 15:15

I want each day to be a feast. I want to be happy and you can’t be sad if you are always smiling and believing good things. That’s why being grateful will change your mood quickly.

“The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” Proverbs 18:21

Every word out of our mouth says something about us. Are we bringing life to those around us or are we bringing death. It starts with your thoughts. Take control over your thoughts don’t listen to the enemies ranting, be your own cheerleader and speak God’s words over yourself. Then you can be strong to speak life to others.

“Start children off in the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6

It is important to teach your kids about God. But it is more important to teach a child how to live a Godly life. Actions speak louder than words. It should not end when they grow older. Continue to speak the goodness of God and continue to grow with God so they see it.

“My son, give me your heart and let your eyes delight in my ways.” Proverbs 23:26

Don’t just get head knowledge of God, get to know him and his ways. And then keep his ways and make him the apple of your eye. Your best friend and confidant. One you never want to let down.

“Lord, I know that peoples lives are not their own, it is not for them to direct their steps.” Jeremiah 10:23

We need great wisdom to know God’s will for our lives. On our own we tend to make a mess. We cannot see the big picture and don’t understand God’s ways.

“…the terms I commanded your ancestors when I, brought them out of Egypt, out of the iron-smelting furnace,” I said, “obey me and do everything I command you, and I will be your people, and I will be your God.” Jeremiah 11:4

This was very simple and easy to understand. But do you think they obeyed? NO! I have been reading in the prophets, such as Jeremiah and Ezekiel lately and he is really letting them have it. They have done so much and really deserve to be punished but I would not choose to be in their shoes. To hurt the Lord so badly and be such a disappointment. And they had a chance for great things.

“I the Lord search the heart and examine the mind, to reward each person according to their conduct, according to what their deeds deserve.” Jeremiah 17:11

Thank you Lord, that you know my heart. You know why I do as I do and you will show me the errors of my ways so I can turn from them. I often can not see my sin but I don’t wish to continue in my sin.

“Lord, you are the hope of Israel; all who forsake me will be put to shame. Those who turn away from you will be written in the dust because they have forsaken the Lord, the spring of living water. Heal me, Lord, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise.” Jeremiah 17:13-14

Lord you are my hope, my healing, my refuge, there is none but you and you offer so much.

Nuggets of Truth

“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” Psalms 139:13-14

No one is a mistake. You were well thought out beforehand. God only makes perfect people. His plans for you are only good. Even if you only live for one hour your life matters and does make a difference. All life matters.

“Set a guard over my mouth, Lord; keep watch over the door of my lips. Do not let my heart be drawn to what is evil so that I take part in wicked deeds along with those who are evildoers; do not let me eat their delicacies.” Psalms 141:3-4

It is so important that we watch what we do and say. Especially words because once they leave our mouth the damage has been done. They are life and they are death. God sees everything we do, say and think. I do not wish to hurt my father or his dear children.

“Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom.” Psalms 145:3

God is so good! I pray for needs in the church and I am so blessed by some of the amazing answers to prayer. I also see all that God is doing just in my church. We are but a speck of dust compared to all the churches and prayers coming to him.I can just imagine how busy God is throughout the world.

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge. But fools despise wisdom and instruction.” Proverbs 1:7

If you fear and respect the Lord you will keep his commands, and never do anything to harm one of his children. He has asked first to think of others before ourselves. I have a problem with “black lives matter”, sure they do but so does every life. Red, yellow, black, white they are all precious in his sight. So are babies in the womb and the elderly. No one is expendable.

“For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth comes knowledge and understanding.” Proverbs 2:6

Wisdom comes from the Lord, that’s why reading his words every day is the only way to know what is right and to follow his commands. You don’t have time? I don’t have time to waste if my life and prosperity depends on making wise decisions. I don’t want to pay the consequences.

“My son, forget not my law; but let thy heart keep my commandments: for length of days, and years of life, and peace, will they add to thee.” Proverbs 3:1-2

See that keeping his commandments leads to a long and peaceful life. What everyone is looking for but very few find. It is so very easy. But we try to make it difficult.

“Trust in Jehovah with all thy heart, and lean not on thy own understanding: in all thy ways acknowledge him, and he will direct thy paths.” Proverbs 3:5

I used to always worry about my care and whether someone would do something right for me personally. God confronted me one day that I wasn’t trusting him, and I was leaning on my own understanding not his. This is the day he has already planned out for me and my best. Whatever happens is predestined for my good. So I totally changed my thinking and you will never believe how happy and peaceful my life became.

“Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but whoever takes crooked paths will be found out.” Proverbs 10:9

One thing very important is integrity. Let your yes mean yes and your no mean no. Never tell a lie. It is hard to keep your stories straight if you are not telling the truth. People should be able to count on your words.

“One person gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty.” Proverbs 11:24

The ways of God are so different than man’s. What makes sense to us is not always how life works. God is the one who provides and what he blesses will be blessed and what he curses will be cursed. You may have no money but it will go far if you share. If you are stingy that money will soon fly away to someone who will share.

“Whoever spares the rod hates their children, but the one who loves their children is careful to discipline them.” Proverbs 13:24

Lord correct me in your great love so that I might live. I know you love me and only want the very best for me. Your wisdom is far above ours.

“Stay away from a fool, for you will not find knowledge on their lips.” Proverbs 14:7

Who do you hang around with? Is that what you wish to turn into? Spending time around people will rub off on you. Will it bring good or will it bring you down? I choose to be around people I look up to. Whose values are good.

Nuggets of Truth

“Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.” Psalms 100:1

God should make you want to shout. He has done such awesome and almighty things. Just some amazing miracles he did in the Bible like David, Gideon, Joshua, and Moses, whoa! He is not here to do things simply or logically. He does out of the ordinary and spectacular things. I serve on a prayer chain and used to get discouraged by so many needs. So many times I just think man are you in trouble. Defeated before I even pray, but I have seen some amazing miracles and I know my God is worth shouting on the housetop.

God is mighty, look at all that he has made, on the earth and in the sky. Things we can’t even see with our eyes. The galaxy goes on forever and only God himself knows the extent of it. Just look at the things we can see, and I’ve only seen a fraction of what is out there. Then he made billions of animals and takes care of them making sure they have food and water and keeping them alive from birth till death. His masterpiece, man, made in his image, to be like him and to dwell with him. He is always doing stuff for man. His mercy and grace to those that will never be perfect or have it all together. Sometimes, a lot of times, I just start sobbing when I think how amazing he is, praise God.

“I hate what faithless people do; I will have no part of it. The perverse of heart shall be far from me; I will have nothing to do with what is evil.” Psalms 101:3-4

Covid had me locked in my room and it really bothered me but I enjoy my solitude now. I rule over my space and I can control my environment. I don’t miss all the negative drama that goes on out in the world. I prefer my safe space because it’s my peaceful place. If it doesn’t bring peace I have eliminated it from my life.

“Blessed are those whose ways are blameless, who walk according to the law of the Lord. Blessed are those who keep his statutes and seek him with all of their heart-.” Psalms 119:1-2

No I am not perfect, but I am forgiven. I seek the Lord always, wanting to do all he has for me. My relationship with him is more precious to me than bars of gold. Those who love the Lord and have put their trust in him know they don’t deserve anything, but Christ gave it freely to anyone who would accept it. It takes great faith to accept it. God respects faith and rewards it.

“Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law.I am a stranger on the earth; do not hide your commands from me.” Psalms 119:18-19

I’ve been blind before and I didn’t realize it. It was not a good time. But God has opened my eyes so much in the last few years to his truths and I read so much about him and his ways. Anything to stay strong and clear. Keeping his commandments is important because I strayed when I tried to fulfill life by myself not trusting him.

“Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path. I have taken an oath and confirmed it, that I will follow his righteous laws.” Psalms 119:105-106

God’s word is faithful and true. Being in his word every day keeps us straight. We have to read it over and over till it illuminates are paths brightly. Memorizing his words helps us to put it in our hearts.

“Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain.” Psalms 127:1

We can spend all of our time and money to get ahead. But if we are not seeking the Lord and his plans then it is in vain. It will not bring happiness or contentment. He wants us happy and successful but we need to seek him first. Then these things follow. If God is not the King of your life, then you are on your own and that’s a dangerous place. God takes care of his own.

“Out of the depths I cry to you, Lord; Lord hear my voice. Let your ears be attentive to my cry for mercy. If you, Lord, keep a record of sins, Lord, who could stand ? But with you there is forgiveness, so that we can, with reverence, serve you.” Psalms 130:1-4

There are times that I have realized I sinned and my heart grows heavy and I feel awful. Saying something bad, reading something inappropriate, thinking wrongly about someone. Go right to God and ask forgiveness immediately. That weight will not lift till you do. It can turn instantly peaceful because God does forgive the minute you ask, he won’t hold on like we tend to do. His mercy is never ending.

“How good and pleasant it is when God’s people dwell together in unity.” Psalms 133:1

I had to completely turn my thinking around. I asked God a long time for eyes to see as he sees. Everyone is a beloved child of his made with a unique purpose. Everyone! We are on one team, all of us. We need to do everything we do to support our team. Strive for peace and unity.

Nuggets of Truth

“The Lord is in his holy temple; the Lord is on his heavenly throne. He observes everyone on earth; his eyes examine them. The Lord examines the righteous, but the wicked, those who love violence, he hates with a passion. On the wicked he will rain fiery coals and burning sulfur, a scorching wind will be their lot. For the Lord is righteous, he loves justice; the upright will see his face.” Psalms 11:4-7

God sees everything and because he is just all will see their rewards or punishment. We who are good will see his face. Those who are wicked will see his judgment and face his wrath. He ignores nothing.

“You, Lord, will keep the needy safe and will protect us from the wicked, who freely strut about when what is vile is honored by the human race.” Psalms 12:7-8

Does it seem like evil is accepted all the more and the evil seems to be winning? Well God will take care of his own. He will not lose even one.

“But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation. I will sing the Lord’s praise, for he has been good to me.” Psalms 13:5-6

I can’t say enough. He is so good, and little things I can see him doing each day that mean so much to me.

“Lord, who may dwell in your sacred tent? Who may live on your holy mountain? The one whose walk is blameless, who does what is righteous, who speaks the truth from their heart; whose tongue utters no slander, who does no wrong to a neighbor, and casts no slur on others; who despises a vile person but honors those who fear the Lord; who keeps an oath even when it hurts, and does not change their mind, who lends money to the poor without interest; who does not accept a bribe against the innocent. Whoever does these things will never be shaken.” Psalms 15:1-6

It can be hard at times to do the right thing. To always tell the truth. To always keep your promise. Think of others first. But God notices when you choose to do the right thing when it’s tough. He will reward you.

“I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.” Psalms 16:8

Watching all God does is so fulfilling. He is always working in and through people I know. My church is changing lives around the world and it’s amazing to watch.

“I call on you, my God, for you will answer me; turn your ear to me and hear my prayer.” Psalms 17:6

Nothing is too simple or too difficult for you. How simple it is for me to assume that I don’t need to bother God about something. I was fretting about having the same breakfast every day and it’s good but getting annoying. Well I prayed about it and this morning it was totally different and so was lunch. I don’t believe in coincidences. God is good and I thanked him.

“To the faithful you show yourself faithful, to the blameless you show yourself blameless, to the pure you show yourself pure, but to the devious you show yourself shrewd. You save the humble but bring low those whose eyes are haughty.” Psalms 18:25-26

God treats us just how we treat others. Therefore you should always treat others just how you wish to be treated.

“With your help I can advance against a troop; with my God I can scale a wall.” Psalms 18:29

How big is your God? My God always wins. He is not afraid of your problems. He fights every battle you surrender to him. Are you complaining about your problems or are you leaving them at his feet. I have left some strange problems at his feet. He has never let me down. He may not answer every need just how I choose. People do die and trials do come, but my God will bring me through victoriously.

“The law of the Lord is perfect, refreshing the soul. The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple. The precepts of the Lord are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes. The fear of the Lord is pure, enduring forever. The decrees of the Lord are firm, and all of them are righteous.” Psalms 19:7-10

God does not lie. He is right and righteous. I have never been let down. His ways bring life and joy. They make sense after using them. They are very simple but they work. The more you follow the easier they are to follow. It all begins with the fear of the Lord. He is more important to me than anything.

Nuggets of Truth

“Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither – whatever they do prospers.” Psalms 1:1-3

The people of Israel would teach these truths as songs, passing them down to their children. I remember watching tv as a child and they taught the preamble to our constitution as a song. Well songs are an easy way to learn. When I had to learn it in fifth grade, I had it down. These are things to do if you wish to prosper. To help you stand strong. Hanging around certain people can be your downfall. What kind of friends do you keep?

For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked leads to destruction.” Psalm 1:6

So many times I have heard people complain that God is not good. Well their ways lead to destruction not good. God warned them but they did not listen.

“Serve the Lord with fear and celebrate his rule with trembling.” Psalm 2:11

God’s ways are just. His plans are right. We should listen to what he has to say. He has never lied. He always tells the truth and what to do for blessings and curses. It’s so simple but human pride can put blinders over your eyes. The further away from God, the thicker the blinders get.

But you, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, and the one who lifts my head high. I call out to the Lord, and he answers me from his holy mountain.” Psalms 3:3-4

The Lord takes good care of us. He will always be there for us. He is only a word away. Bring everything to him. He cares.

“From the Lord comes deliverance. May your blessings be on your people.” Psalm 3:8

He makes everything right. He is the only one who can and the only one who will.

“In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.” Psalm 4:8

I love to talk with God after a long day. I bring everything to him and then I fall asleep so peacefully. When I first had my stroke sleep seldom came. I tossed and turned many nights but now I love to snuggle down in bed knowing he is watching over me.

“Surely, Lord, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield.” Psalm 5:12

FOG or the favor of God is awesome. People like me, people do nice things for me. Every good thing comes from God and he causes others to do good things for his children, too.

“Lord my God, I take refuge in you; save and deliver me from all those who pursue me.” Psalm 7:1

As I sit reading this so many concerns flood my mind. I spend my days on my iPad to keep me busy. But so much of what we do takes money. Well as a person with no income and a lot of free time I’m concerned about being careful and responsible. My bills do have to get paid. But I can’t spend my life worrying or fretting. God has promised to give me strength in all things. I have to believe he will give me wisdom and take care of me.

“My shield is God most high, who saves the upright in heart. God is a righteous judge, a God who does display his wrath every day.” Psalm 7:10

God is good and always right. He is a very righteous God but a Holy God who doesn’t tolerate sin. That has to be frustrating with all the wickedness in this world. But he is also full of love that sees beyond the evil.

“I will give thanks to the Lord because of his righteousness; I will sing the praises of the Lord Most High..” Psalm 7:17

Oh God you are righteous, when everything around seems wrong and out of control you remain faithful and true. I will not fear for you are with me.

“And Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory in the heavens. …when I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them? You have made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honor. You made them over the works of your hand; you put everything under their feet.” Psalms 8:1,3-6

Oh I just think of all he has made in this world and it is so good. All just for us. And it works so smoothly and perfectly. He gave it all to us. It was All for us. Not because he needed it or wanted it. And who are we out of the billions he created. Why, love is the only reason that makes any sense. Why mess with imperfect humans when God is perfect. He has legions of angels that serve him all the time and they aren’t messy like us. Just because we have free will. To love him of our own free will. Not because we have to, but because we want to.

Nuggets of Truth

“If you are pure and upright, even now he will rouse himself on your behalf and restore you to your prosperous state. Your beginnings, will seem humble, so prosperous will your future be.” Job 8:6-7

That is exactly what happened because Job was a humble man. You are never far from God, no matter where you might be or what you may have done. He made you and he loves you. Come to him, he is waiting. With him comes all blessings and goodness.

“Though he slay me, yet I will hope in him, I will surely defend my ways to his face.” Job 13:15

Evan if you take me home. Where I will live eternity with you. I know you are righteous and just and I know what we have together and nothing can separate us. I am confident.

“A person’s days are determined; you have decreed the number of his months and have set limits he cannot exceed.” Job 14:5

We all live by an absolute and that is death. We are given so many hours on earth and then we will spend eternity somewhere. How we live our lives during that time determines where that will be. If we are ready, does it really matter when our time here is over.

“My intercessor is my friend as my eyes pour out tears to God; on behalf of man he pleads with God as one pleads with a friend.” Job 16:20-21

God is the best friend I could ever have. He will never let me down and always meets my needs. I can come to him about anything.

“I know that my redeemer lives, and in the end he will stand on the earth. And after my skin has been destroyed, yet in my flesh I will see God; I myself will see him with my own eyes-I, and not another .” Job 19:25-27

One day when we close our eyes for the last time and breathe our last breaths we will open our eyes to see his face. No man can see God and live. But one day we will see him in all his glory. We will have brand new perfect bodies and no limitations and perfect wisdom. As the song claims, ‘I can only imagine?’

“Is not God in the heights of heaven? And see how lofty are the highest stars! Yet you say, what does God know? Does he judge through such darkness? The thick clouds veil him, so he does not see us as he goes about in the vaulted heavens.” Job 22:12-14

Look into the heavens one night and try to imagine the one who knows every star by name and all that he has made with his hands. Nothing is hidden from his sight or from his understanding. God sees everything.

“Submit to God and be at peace with him; in this way prosperity will come to you.” Job 22:21

Be at peace with God, he is in control and he is good.

“If you return to the almighty, you will be restored: if you remove wickedness from your tent.” Job 22:23

Come to him.

“He will deliver even one who is not innocent, who will be delivered through the cleanness of your hands.” Job 22:30

…even if you have sinned you can come to him because he loves you and made you. You are very important to him. He can make you righteous from this moment. Just ask!

“But he knows the way that I take; when he has tested me, I will come forth as gold. My feet have closely followed his steps; I have kept his way without turning aside. I have not departed from the commands of his lips; I have treasured the words of his mouth more than my daily bread.” Job 23:10-12

God knew Job and when Satan questioned God he was proud of Job and knew his heart completely. That he would not say or do anything against God. God doesn’t need to prove anything but I do believe he can be proud of what he has made that is good.

“And he said to the human race, The fear of the Lord- that is wisdom and to shun evil is understanding.” Job 28:28

To revere and respect the Lord and to love him and his ways with your entire being, that is wisdom and understanding. The more you do that, the more he will open your eyes to his truth. The more you will see him.

“And after Job prayed for his friends, the Lord restored his fortunes and gave him twice as much as he had before. All his brothers and sisters and everyone who had known him before came and ate with him in his house. They comforted and consoled him on all the trouble the Lord had brought on him, and each one gave him a piece of silver and a gold ring. The Lord blessed the latter part of Job’s life more than the former part.” Job 42:10-12

After, we always need to make the first move, Job had been right in knowing who his God was. His friends thought they knew God. Man’s assumptions are seldom correct though. His friends were sure that he was in the wrong. His friends and family had abandoned him. What could they say when it did seem that God was against him. It is hard to be around those who are suffering and in pain. But when God came and showed his love for Job and turned things around everyone was his friend. Yah, he’s my brother! They were proud to know him then. Well God gave him double for his troubles. Sort of hazard pay. God always comes through and he is more then just.

Nuggets of Truth

“All Judah rejoiced about the oath because they had sworn it wholeheartedly.” 2 Chronicles 15:15

God’s people would come to him and confess their sins just to go back to sinning again. But every time he forgave them just as he promised he would. Giving them a peace that comes from true repentance. It says, “I really was wrong and I really wish to do right.” But as the world gets hard we often go back into our sins. But God is always ready for us to come back to him no matter how bad we’ve been.

“For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him. You have done a foolish thing, and from now on you will be at war.” 2 Chronicles 16:9

God is perfect and he is just. So when we sin we will pay the consequences. If we run back to him though, he is loving, and will take us back. As parents, I can remember grounding my kids for bad behavior but as they show true repentance, I sometimes forgot about my threats and let them slide because I loved them and wanted to see them happy.

“Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s.” 2 Chronicles 20:15

God is our champion. He loves his own and will fight for them. We so often let things get to us. Every trial and difficult moment we need to take right to God. The sooner the better. It may be that he’s using it to strengthen us. But he uses everything for our good and he will be with us through everything. Sometimes God will work out impossible situations that we never imagined in his own special way.

“…men went to carry off the plunder, they found among them a great amount of equipment and clothing and articles of value-more than they could take away. There was so much plunder that it took three days to collect.” 2 Chronicles 20:25

In this instance God sent his angels to thwart their enemies, who actually turned on each other and annihilated themselves. And because God is a God of abundance he gave them such a great victory. They not only received the spoils of war but there was so much abundance that it took three days to collect it all.

“He sought God during the days of Zechariah who instructed him in the fear of God. As long as he sought the Lord, God gave him success.” 2 Chronicles 26:5

So many times the Bible tells us of people who served and followed after him were blessed and successful. Proof that he is good.

Jotham grew powerful because he walked steadfastly before the Lord his God.” 2 Chronicles 27:6

More proof!

“…he sought his God and worked wholeheartedly. And so he prospered.” 2 Chronicles 31:21

More proof!

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or discouraged because of the king of Assyria and the vast army with him. With him is only the arm of the flesh, but with us is the Lord our God to help us fight our battles.” 2 Chronicles 32:7-8

If God be for us who can be against us. We may have enemies but who is greater than our God. Can anyone beat him? I know who I want on my side.

“Who of all the gods of these nations that my predecessors has destroyed has been able to save his people from me? How then can your god save you from my hand?” 2 Chronicles 32:14

This just boggles my mind. How the Israelites kept turning to false gods even after the one true God did so much for them. Even the people fighting against them knew God was fighting for them and they didn’t stand a chance. But they still sought false gods. Hoping.

“And the Lord sent an angel, who annihilated all the fighting men and the commanders and officers in the camp of the Assyrian king. So he withdrew to his own land in disgrace. And when he went into the temple of his god, some of his sons, his own flesh and blood, cut him down with the sword.” 2 Chronicles 32:31

God wins in the end. The bad guy loses and all is right.
